simple living room idea, effective wire art and visualization aid for your peaceful meditation room at home
It's a good idea to have a pet in the house. It keeps you company and contributes to your everyday happiness. If you don't have time to look after a pet, a family member is allergic to animal hair, you can't afford one or you decide against it for other reasons, you can find your own animal friend this way.
If you're looking for a fun and creative way to spice up your living room, you should make your own DIY wire animals! You can use your wire animal as a decoration in your living room or bedroom and even as a meditation aid. Wire animals are easy to make and perfect for anyone who wants to decorate their home with humor with something pretty and creative, but doesn't want to spend a lot of time or money on it. A simple, beautiful and unique wall decoration. This project is perfect for DIY beginners. Not only is it fun, it's also (like all DIY projects) a great way to practice mindfulness and concentration. The act of making something can be therapeutic and is an effective and productive way to de-stress and relax. So if you're looking for a fun and mindful activity, DIY wire animals are the perfect option!
Today I'm going to tell you the story behind these simple decorative objects - easy to make, completely DIY-style.
The story begins about 20 years ago when I, a 10-year-old girl, finally met the best friend I had wanted for so many years: my dog. He was incredibly cute as a puppy, was a playmate and accompanied me for many years through all the ups and downs of growing up. He was an incredibly great dog and loyal friend. We spent a lot of time together, slept in the same room (when he got the chance, he also liked to sleep in the same bed), went on many walks in the woods together and went on vacation together. I have countless wonderful memories that still connect me with this loyal soul today: a dog so full of friendliness and empathy, next to which some people's seem infinitesimal. At the end of his beautiful life, when he was already very old and could barely walk, I was unfortunately unable to be near him as I had important exams at university. But I was with him the day he passed away to say goodbye to him. The suffering was great and every time I thought about him and us together, a tear ran down my face. It was awful to come back to the quiet house without someone to greet you barking, tail wagging and jumping with joy. One day, when I was particularly sad and missing him a lot, I decided to make something with my hands, as it's an activity that always helps me feel better when something upsets or upsets me. So I took a piece of wire, the kind you use for handicrafts, gardening or DIY, and started to bend it into shape. Eventually, I managed to give the wire the shape of my faithful friend's profile using round-nose pliers - just like the photo I had used as a model.
Since that day, this tear-jerking work of art has been a permanent fixture in my home: it has accompanied me everywhere I have lived since then and also has a place of honor in my current home. So it's a bit like my faithful friend (or at least his soul or spirit) is still close by in some way to keep me company. And the memory of him will, of course, remain for many years to come.
As I liked the result, I have tried to realize yet another animal, a goose, and maybe I will try my hand at more at some point. Who knows? Ah, I almost forgot - you can attach the figures to the wall with some masking tape, at least that's how I did it. If that doesn't hold, a thumbtack or a small nail will help.
All you need is
Craft wire (2 mm diameter, also available in colorful)
Pliers (needle nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters)
If you have read my article "exquisite lantern", you already know that focused observation is a very simple form of mediation. Sit comfortably on the floor in your living room and look at your wire animal while listening to yourself, feeling your body and your breath. Observe what thoughts arise, what this animal symbolizes for you and what wishes or memories are associated with it.
You can also use this exercise as a visualization exercise: Make a shape out of wire that symbolizes your wish for you. This can be an animal, but of course it can also be any other shape - something that evokes the association of your wish for you. Concentrating on your wire artwork, imagine that you have already achieved your goal, your wish. Feel how you feel when the wish has already come true. Feel all the emotions associated with it and connect with gratitude that your wish has already become a reality. If you regularly take some time to visualize your wishes and goals, you will be amazed at the power of manifestation within you and how your inner wishes come true on the outside.
What animal shape would you have given the wire? Do you have or have you had a special friend like mine? What do you think of the result of my "art therapy"? Please let me know what you think or tell me about you and your dog friend. I'm all ears. A hug and see you soon.
