Decorative DIY vase with lace trim and new life for old preserving jars

I love flowers - flowers in the garden, flowers in the meadow, flower pots and bouquets - preferably with flowers from the field to cut yourself (which I think is a great concept by the way... thanks to everyone who makes it possible). I think fresh flowers in the home not only bring color into your own four walls but also a positive energy. I, for one, always enjoy pretty bouquets on the dining table, on the desk, in the living room or on the windowsill...
Have you ever looked for a vase and although you have lots of them, you can't find the right size/height/shape? Here's an idea for you to solve this "problem" creatively: This flower vase was created from just such a situation. The other vases were too narrow or too wide at the top or too low overall so that they would have tipped over when loaded with flowers. Without further ado, I took a preserving jar from the pantry. To make it something special, I decorated it with bobbin lace that I still had in my craft supplies... Simple, quick, practical and "infamous" :-). The preserving jar has never returned to the pantry for years and still bears the lace trim: the jar has become one of my absolute favorite vases and is in frequent use.
For the upcycling vase made from a mason jar you need:
Mason jar (e.g. from Ikea)
Bobbin lace to glue on (e.g. self-adhesive)
Of course, you can also decorate a drinking glass, jam jar or bottle in the same way or place several identical vases next to each other in the same style. Have fun with your creative solution and enjoy your flowers!
... or whatever you want to put in your jar afterwards... It is also still ideal as a storage jar:

By the way, I would like to briefly introduce you to one of the so-called "side exercises": Mind control. The exercises have an anthroposophical background and go back to Rudolph Steiner. The exercise is intended as a regular daily practice, 5 minutes a day, preferably over a longer period of time. It is about clear, factual thinking. Ultimately, this is a very simple type of meditation - just try it out. Choose a simple object near you (e.g. a vase, a pen, a nut, the lace border...) and turn your attention and thoughts to it. Ask yourself these (or other) questions, for example:
What components does the object consist of?
How was this object created or made?
What does the object look like and how would I describe it?
How long have such objects been around? Did someone invent it?
Is the object widespread or rather rare?
What would the world look like without the object?
The aim of the exercise is to spend 5 minutes thinking about the chosen object and not let your mind wander. If you do catch your thoughts "wandering" elsewhere (which is completely normal...), let the other thoughts move on and consciously bring your attention back to the object. (If you want to know more about this, you can find more information about Rudolph Steiner's secondary exercises at this and this link). After you have done the exercise a few times, you will notice that it makes you calmer - a welcome little break from everyday life. At the same time, it trains your concentration and focus, which can certainly be useful in many other situations. Just give it a try - it doesn't take more than 5 minutes that you take as time for yourself... For example, the 2 minutes you need to decorate your vase from the jar plus another 3 minutes to enjoy your vase and the flowers in it afterwards :-) ...
