unique rings made by yourself

personalized goldsmith work as a gift for him or her - small DIY works of art

At the end of the day, finger rings are simply a strip of any metallic or non-metallic material that we wear on our finger: quite simply! They can enclose precious stones or small works of art such as Murano glass, enamel, pearls or horn... Rings have always been a very popular and widespread piece of jewelry, worn by women and men since ancient times, it seems since the Bronze Age.

They are a symbol of eternity, of repetitive continuity, of perfection. With the addition of symbols, gemstones or inscriptions, rings can be given special meanings or powers (or transfer these to the person wearing the ring, as legends and fairy tales claim). Rings are sometimes even ascribed therapeutic properties or magical, supernatural powers.

I have always loved finger rings, ever since I was given my first ring as a little girl. It was a simple silver ring with a blue stone, but for me it was more: it made me feel more beautiful, more grown up, more valuable, important and special... Of course, the ring itself had no magical powers, but the effect that the ring and wearing it had on me was magical.

In this post, I'll tell you how I managed to create the finger rings you see in the photos as part of a weekend goldsmithing course using simple tools such as a saw, a tongs and a file, without any prior knowledge: Each one is unique, handmade by me and valuable. In addition to the material (925 silver wire and sheet metal), it is the fact that I designed and made them myself that makes the rings valuable to me personally.

I have also managed to reuse and upcycle things that I would never have thought of: for example, a gold dental crown from my mother, an old ring from my great-grandmother's jewelry box and semi-precious stones from other old and broken rings that nobody needed or wanted anymore.

I don't think I've become a professional goldsmith, but I'm very happy with the result.

Some of these rings have remained among my favorite pieces of jewelry, others have become gifts for people close to my heart.

As you have probably seen, they are not all intricately detailed, they are easy to realize. What do you think? Would you like to know more about them? Are you interested in how I made them or how much the materials and a course cost? Feel free to contact me - it's my pleasure to tell you more, satisfy your curiosity or help you create something similar in your home. A hug and see you soon!
