Toadstool fortune cookies

a little message of happiness in the form of a mushroom-shaped cookie to bake at home and give as a gift

Fly agarics are not always poisonous :-) I already proved this in my post about a DIY earring in the shape of a small toadstool. In this case, it's even truer. These little mushrooms are absolutely edible, do not cause hallucinations and are not only pretty but also very tasty!

Cooking is an art... one of the most complex: it involves creativity, aesthetics, craftsmanship, decoration, DIY, science, chemistry, physics, biology, painting, sculpture and much more. I've already talked about it in another post, in this one I want to tell you how to bake these cute and delicious mushroom-shaped cookies.

They are aesthetically pleasing to look at and show off and offer you an opportunity to express your creativity. Of course, these cookies don't necessarily have to be mushroom-shaped. You can give them any other shape using other cookie cutters and decorate them with the appropriate colors - just as you like. They can be decorated with icing that you color with food coloring and thus become a small canvas on which you can paint, draw and decorate, giving free rein to your creative imagination.

They are a perfect gift for a party, as a dessert for a birthday party or a dinner with friends. I gave them away in small bags for New Year as a lucky charm for the new year. However, they are just as suitable as a birthday present, name day gift, anniversary present, Christmas present or as a good luck charm before an exam. Of course, they can also be baked with gluten-free flour.

Cutting out, baking and decorating the cookies is a fun and tasty activity - alone, with your friends or with your children.

You need the following ingredients

250 g butter

250 g sugar

250 g flour

50 g Mondamin

4 egg yolks

juice of half a lemon

for the icing:

lemon juice

powdered sugar

Preparation

  • Mix the ingredients for the dough and knead well.

  • Roll out the dough thinly on a floured work surface and cut out with mushroom cutters.

  • Bake at 150-180 °C until the cookies are golden brown.

  • Divide the icing made from powdered sugar and lemon juice into two portions and mix the larger one with red food coloring.

  • Decorate the cooled cookies with the red icing, the white dots can easily be made with a toothpick.

Tips

  • Each time you roll out the dough, mix the remaining dough with new dough so that there is less flour in the dough and the cookies do not become dry.

  • If the cookies melt during baking, they will taste particularly good, but they may lose their shape because there is a lot of butter in them - mixing in a little flour will help.

Do you like my cookies in the shape of a poisonous (and lucky!) toadstool? Have you already made something similar and would you like to send me a photo? I look forward to hearing from you! I would be delighted if you would share this or any other post with anyone you think would be interested and could benefit from it. You'll be doing me a favor, supporting my blog and giving others a little inspiration and me-time. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

A hug and see you soon!
