The glass was cracked. Throw it away? ... You can always ... That's how this candle holder came about.

I think the dishwasher is a wonderful invention! At the same time, I'm a bit at war with it, as it ruins some of the dishes that I feel particularly attached to. For example, I have little glass plates that are over 100 years old that I don't want to put in the dishwasher as I fear that it is a little too aggressive for some delicate items and the proof is that from time to time something will break in the dishwasher.

This was the fate of a beautiful wine glass, for example. Fortunately, unlike the glass plates, it wasn't something that had been in the family for a century, but one of 6 wine glasses from an Ikea set. In any case, it annoyed me because the set no longer consisted of 6 glasses and because the dishwasher had cheated me again. Or maybe it was just my laziness that prevented me from washing the glasses by hand.

As my Italian mother-in-law says: "Non tutto il male viene per nuocere." - Not all evil does harm. Moreover, one should never be spoiled in life. If life gives us lemons instead of oranges, that means we'll just make lemonade. With this philosophy in mind, I decided to think about how I could extend the life of the opened wine glass and create something beautiful and useful from it, DIY style. I noticed that in everyday life, some objects we are used to seem less beautiful in their natural environment than when we place them in a new context in which they don't really fit. So it was while I happened to be looking at the upturned glass that was placed on my desk that its simple beauty, the harmony of its curves and the transparent fascination of the material (glass...) caught my eye. As I love candles and decoration, I decided to combine these aspects and create the candle holder you see in this post.

The realization of this candle holder is so embarrassingly simple that I won't even try to explain to you how to do it, I'm sure you already understand it.
