inspiring DIY hand lettering poster with positive affirmations

motivational messages, self-made and designed decorative poster for the wall as inspiration for every day and meditation aid

I have always loved drawing and painting. As a little girl, I drew farms, cats and circus tents. As soon as I could write, I wrote letters to my parents and friends on all possible and impossible occasions. The passion for DIY, room decorations and beautiful things on paper has remained. I still enjoy writing letters because I firmly believe that the process of writing by hand has a deeper quality than a message typed on a keyboard. I am fascinated by the idea that the sender and addressee are both holding the same paper in their fingers. For me, a letter is a materialized piece of energy that I can send to a loved one: I put time, care, love and thought into it and firmly believe that it will reach the recipient. In any case, I love receiving mail - real mail - in my letterbox... the old-fashioned way.

Mindfulness is a simple form of meditation: consciously perceiving and experiencing the present moment - being fully present in the here and now, without any judgment, as an unbiased observer. Mindfulness helps you to be aware of your body, feelings, sensory impressions and thoughts - a perfect way to be present in the moment.

Letters are one thing. Of course, paper can do so much more. Hand lettering is currently enjoying a lot of attention and is all the rage. And rightly so, in my opinion. On the one hand, beautiful writing is fun, has a meditative character and allows you to consciously perceive what you are writing. On the other hand, the results can be seen, are a beautiful decoration as a poster on the wall, adorn postcards or simply labels in the household.

Fortunately, when I "grew up", I didn't lose the joy of all these activities such as painting, drawing and crafting and was also able to hone the technique with a little practice... as the saying goes: practice makes perfect. (... which incidentally also applies to meditation...)

It has happened to me a few times that someone on whose gift I had written something in the style of hand lettering asked me if it was really me because, they said, the writing looked so good that you could believe I had bought it. This of course flatters me (although I am sometimes not 100% satisfied with my results myself) and motivates me to do better and better and perhaps to pass on this talent, if you can call it that - or at least what I have learned with practice - to you as a reader and try to motivate you and support you in the realization. Ultimately, it's not really difficult and just requires you to be able to write by hand with a pen - which we are all capable of doing.

Also, now that I'm "grown up" and have my own home, I enjoy having the opportunity (which you will probably have in your home too) to decorate my home to my taste and with the things I "create" myself. For example, in the photo of this post you can see my first handlettering poster that I made or handlettered myself. Besides the fact that such a poster can be something decorative or personal, it can also carry phrases, mottoes or slogans that motivate or remind us to think of something that can be useful, important or even both for us. In addition, a handwritten poster with a profound, kind or funny message makes a perfect gift for someone you care about.

I used the following for this DIY hand lettering poster for positive affirmations:

Poster strips set off your artwork particularly well.

With a little practice, you can quickly create beautiful results. I'm happy to help - here are some more ideas to get you started. Just give it a try. If it doesn't work, feel free to ask me for advice, help or encouragement. Or if you like, I can also write and realize something for you according to your wishes. Contact me without giving it much thought - it would be my pleasure.

If you liked this or any other post, please share it with those who might be interested. A hug and see you soon!
