creative upcycling for old electrical parts

Hello, it's great to have you back! I'm glad you're reading my blog. I guess that means we're similar in some ways... You probably also love the beauty of small things, decorating, the environment, recycling and DIY. Together we can try to improve our lives and the lives of our loved ones, our environment, our little world and contribute to making the world a slightly better place than we found it.
I am probably exaggerating. I have learned not to throw away anything that could possibly still be used.... even if it sometimes seems broken. For the earrings in this post, for example, I used parts of microprocessors from an old cell phone or radio that I had saved because they seemed aesthetically interesting to me in a certain way. If you don't have any old electrical appliances at home that you can search for parts for, you're sure to find something on eBay or you can ask a friend if they have any old appliances at home that they would like to get rid of.
In my eyes, this mini circuit has a certain minimalist beauty, an orderly aesthetic. The fact that the electrical components attached to the green pieces of plastic are also equipped with a form of "intelligence", as some chips or microprocessors process information, fascinates me.
What I used:
Computer/cell phone parts
I only punched a hole in one of the two circuit boards. The other one already had one that I could use. I attached a wire ring to each of them to hang them on the ear hooks.
As I am writing this post, there is a war going on between two countries not far from here, which is incomprehensible to me and which is also causing us fear and concern here in Germany and threatening our planet and a future in peace. I sincerely hope that this terrible and violent human cruelty comes to an end very soon and that the people in these places (and all over the world) can once again feel safer, more united and at peace with themselves and the world. In this post, however, I don't want to take a political stance, but simply tell you how these earrings were created, a bit Tecno, a bit industrial style, but also very upcycling, creative, surprising and environmentally friendly.
Just as a little information - the recycling of electrical waste in the EU is so far 40% lower than the waste produced, which means that about 60%, almost two thirds, of the electrical material we use ends up in landfill. To do my bit, I try to make my electrical appliances last as long as possible and only replace my smartphone and computer when I need to - my computer is currently 10 years old and is still going strong.
What do you think of these DIY post-industrial earrings? Would you wear them? Would you leave them as they are or would you like them better painted? I'm happy if you want to share your opinion or tell me what ideas you have to minimize e-waste. What are you waiting for? A hug and see you soon!
