DIY feather garland...... simple and inexpensive decoration idea for the living room or bedroom

I have always loved garlands. As a little girl, I used to make them out of paper and I loved it when the house was decorated with garlands for parties and birthdays.

Feathers are a symbol of air, wind and, above all, lightness. They are perfect for reminding us to cultivate more lightness in our lives too... And what could be simpler and more effective than a deep breath or a short breathing exercise to immediately make us feel calmer and lighter? As a little imagination exercise that you can do right now, imagine a bird in flight. Imagine being that bird, feeling the fresh, soft air on your body as it flows through your feathers. You have spread your wings and are observing the world and perhaps yourself in your current situation from above. How do you feel? What does the change in perspective change for you?

Strictly speaking, it was just a gap-filling activity. I found a bag of feathers in my craft cupboard and had about a quarter of an hour without having anything "more important" to do before the baby woke up. "Just to try it out, I can take it down again if it doesn't work out." It hasn't been taken down for over a year - I just like it - simple and beautiful.

To make the DIY feather garland as an inexpensive and simple decoration idea, you need (- it's really easy):

• Feathers (brown patterned, white or with gold lace), alternatively you could use pressed leaves or flowers or simply feathers or leaves cut out of cardboard

• white thread

• washi tape

• golden (or other colored) acrylic paint

The tips of the feathers have been dipped in gold here, but of course other shades also look great, such as pastel colors, depending on what suits your home best. You can also buy feathers with golden tips ready-made. I then simply knotted the feathers one behind the other on the white thread and attached them to the wall with masking tape. Very quick, impressively simple and, as mentioned, long-lasting. The garland is suitable for any time of year.

As I said, in my opinion, garlands are always great.
