DIY Easter decorations...... Do-it-yourself for more mindfulness and a meditative wishing ritual

colorful, easy DIY decoration ideas for Easter as a ritual for your wishes and to meditate on change

It's still a while until Easter, but I'd like to tell you now what I've prepared as a quick DIY decoration idea for last Easter - so you'll have plenty of time to recreate it or develop the ideas further before Easter. In my opinion, pre-Easter egg coloring and decorating is a fantastic pastime for the whole family to have some fun together and to entertain children. At the same time, of course, it's also a recycling opportunity for something you've found at home to be given a new lease of life in the Easter spirit.

In this post, I'll tell you how you can easily dye eggs and turn them into a surprisingly beautiful eye-catcher for your home. One of the many little things that bring joy into everyday life and ultimately a little more beauty into the world.

Are you curious? Then read on...

What do you need for these quick and easy Easter decoration ideas? You probably already have almost everything in the house:

I could theoretically tell you the story of where the tradition of Easter eggs comes from. Or I could tell you about the belief that eggs, as a symbol of a seed of life, can also be a vehicle for positive messages, resolutions, dreams and hopes, which it is enough to write on the shell (writing the corresponding intention, for which the respective words stand, inside the egg) in order to then eat the eggs and thus symbolically plant this divine seed of our intention in our body and soul. However, I will not be doing that. This is a blog about decorating and DIY, so we're not going to get into philosophy or esoteric customs here. Nevertheless, it is a curiosity that was perhaps worth a brief mention. The extent to which such knowledge and customs should be deepened is up to each individual...

Mindfulness describes the conscious perception and experience of the here and now. It is about consciously arriving in the present moment - about being completely in the here and now, without any judgment of what is, as an unbiased observer. Being mindful simply means noticing: Body, feelings, sensory impressions and thoughts. Being mindful or living mindfully does not necessarily require meditation. Mindfulness meditation is just one of many possibilities. It can be good to remind yourself of this from time to time in everyday life: to consciously spend time with your family, friends, children or simply with yourself and let the moment affect you mindfully. Or doing things with our hands, making or designing something; concentrating on our physical sensations and sensory impressions. All of this is mindfulness and can change something in your life for the better, interrupt the autopilot and help you get back in touch with yourself. Of course, we can also devise a ritual to become more aware of the present moment or set a conscious intention with the aim of realizing our wishes and dreams or changing aspects of ourselves. It all starts with the will - meditation is simply a way to do this more efficiently.

The eggs can be dyed in a bowl of water and paint. The exact instructions are best taken from the respective pack of egg dyes, sometimes the eggs are dyed directly during cooking. Once the desired color intensity has been achieved, the eggs are best left to dry on some kitchen paper or balanced on a glass. The single-colored eggs are the simplest option. A slightly more sophisticated option are the "effect eggs" with several colors, for which egg dye kits are sold. By not dipping the eggs completely into the paint, but only one pole at a time, a geometric pattern is created. The eggs are placed on stencils with a correspondingly large hole to balance them on the edge of the bowl. Of course, the colored areas can also be applied overlapping. A third variant of this decorating adventure is the simple geometric pattern painting with a pen.

"Hot crossed buns" are an Irish tradition for Good Friday. An old bread bag can be used as a basket for their presentation on the Good Friday (or Easter) table. The rolled-up edge gives the bag some stability and support. You'll soon find the recipe on this blog.

In the pictures you can also see little labels that I found in my favorite magazine flow and on which you can write your Easter greetings. The little origami bunnies look great on the edge of the baskets, you can find instructions here.

You've probably also noticed that the pictures show a parcel wrapped in wrapping paper, tied with a ribbon and a kind of bling on it. I reused tissue paper for this, which looks even prettier when crumpled, and the ribbon is also recycled. To give the whole thing a little more sparkle and enhance the gift, it is adorned with a pendant: any material (colored cardboard, mirror glass, a stone, a piece of plastic - whatever you can find), in this case in the shape of an Easter egg, is wrapped several times with silver wire. In this case, the package contained a book that I gave to my mother for Easter.

What do you give away at Easter? Would you like to use the Easter period to meditate a little or practise mindfulness? What are you waiting to try? If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me... I look forward to hearing from you!

A hug and have fun with the preparations!
